Several governments around the world are floating the idea of issuing “vaccine passports” to individuals ostensibly to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The dystopian policy is rightfully raising the alarm for anyone who even marginally values personal liberty.
As the name suggests, vaccine passports would only allow individuals who are proven to be vaccinated to engage in public life in anyway. Things like booking a flight, eating out at a restaurant, or even shopping would only be available for those who have received a government-mandated vaccine. If that sounds like a dystopian nightmare, that’s because it is.
In the United Kingdom, the nominally “conservative” Prime Minister Boris Johnson has come to embrace the idea, despite criticizing similar ideas earlier in his political career. In the United States, the idea is being met with notable resistance. Republican governors such as Greg Abbott in Texas and Ron DeSantis in Florida have both issued executive orders banning government issued vaccine passports.
America’s federal government, meanwhile, is signaling mixed messages. Dr. Anthony Fauci has recently stated that such a system won’t be needed in the United States, but there is reason to doubt his opposition to the idea. During the earlier phases of the pandemic in 2020, Fauci had also opposed the idea of mandatory masking before abruptly changing his mind. Don’t be surprised if Fauci pulls an about-face on the policy in the near future.
As you’ll see in the video below, vaccine passports bare a chilling resemblance to the so-called “social credit system” in communist China. Citizens who fail to meet the government’s criteria for social approval are barred from traveling or even making certain purchases. This is what happens when a civilization becomes idle in the face of true authoritarian threats.
Here is Paul Joseph Watson with more on the story.
