The Chilling Reason McDonald’s is Taking Artificial Additives off the Menu

If you’ve ever spent an afternoon filling your torso at McDonald’s or stopped at a roadside rest area for a burger-shaped body plug then you’re probably aware that McDonald’s primary value proposition is not good and proper nutrition. That being said, it stands to reason that there are probably a few things in their burgers that they would rather you not know about.

Okay, so that’s no secret. Where things get a bit funny, however, is when fast food chains like McDonald’s start making claims that they are moving toward a healthier menu. Like the time they introduced salads, it wasn’t because they care about your gastrointestinal health. It’s because they were suddenly competing with Subway who had a mascot who had lost a ton of weight eating Subway sandwiches.

Well, today people are more health conscious than ever. It’s no secret why. We have more access to information than ever and we are getting smarter as a result. Accordingly, restaurants have to add some kind of health-related value proposition to their brand- even if it’s not quite on the level.

So the clown-themed burger chain announced that it is removing all of the chemical additives from its seven most popular burgers and from the mysterious Special Sauce that comes on the Big Mac Special. The ingredients on the chopping block include artificial colors and preservatives.

Here’s a tip, sports fans; if you’re eating meat with artificial coloring- it’s because they are trying to conceal the very low quality of that meat. So there’s no reason to believe that any change to the menu is being done for your health. The same is true about the ingredients that they are so magnanimously striking from their recipes.

The first ingredient on the chopping block is the old family favorite, the artificial preservative, calcium propionate. This lovely little chemical is an anti-fungal and has been found to have negative effects on the behavior of children. The Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health just released a study that describes the effect of the chemical on children saying that it can cause “irritability, restlessness, inattention and sleep disturbance.” They advise that removing the substance from a child’s diet can remedy a number of common behavioral issues. Alternatively, you could just put your kids on Ritalin as has become the norm- and the pharmaceutical-medical complex will thank you.

The second ingredient that McDonald’s is so generously taking off the table is sorbic acid. This is an anti-mold preservative used in cheese. It was declared “practically non-toxic” after rat trials. But human use has shown it to elicit an allergic reaction in some people.

Stricken from the recipe for the Big Mac Special Sauce are potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, and calcium disodium EDTA. All of these substances are suspected to be linked to reproductive problems and developmental disorders.

The restaurant chain’s US President Chris Kempczinski said, “We know quality choices are important to our customers. From switching to 100% fresh beef in our quarter-pound burgers, cooked right when ordered in a majority of our restaurants, to removing artificial preservatives in our Chicken McNuggets®, we’ve made significant strides in evolving the quality of our food – and this latest positive change to our classic burgers is an exciting part of that story.”

Here at Health Scams Exposed, we know how much you appreciate that kind of bland, deceptive, and apologetic management speak. Especially when it’s obviously tailored to put you to sleep so that you can reflexively keep eating more burgers.

That’s why we like to include quotes like the one above so that you can see how much McDonald’s cares about producing a quality product and allowing you to make well-informed decisions about your dietary choices.

There’s nothing “exciting” about these changes. It just means that if you pay to eat garbage food from McDonald’s, you’ll be slightly less poisoned than you were before. Hoo-F-ing-ray!

You can be sure that removing these preservatives will cost the company millions in additional food preservation measures. They will have to retard the growth of mold and fungus in some other way- and you can bet your colon that it will not be by serving fresh, high-quality products. They will be substituting some other chemical or using some other intensive processing method to make up what they are losing.

If you understand one thing about fast food, it should be this- the faster it is, the less food there is. And if it’s not food you’re eating, it’s something else.
