Psych Drugs that Kill

Today, it is widely accepted that chemical imbalances in the brain can cause permanent dysfunction that can only be corrected using powerful psychoactive substances like Ritalin, and Zoloft.

What few people are ever told, however, is the fact that there is no scientific evidence that any chemical brain state can lead to any measurable dysfunction as described in the pages of the ever-changing Diagnostic Statistics Manual (DSM).

While is it true that a lack of serotonin is linked to lower motivation and elevated sensitivity to negative emotion, what is not proven is the notion that one necessarily leads to another.

All humans and all human brains are different. But treating people as if they are purely chemical machines has resulted in a deadly trend. Doctor Peter Breggin has created a series of videos on the folly of psychiatric medicine. He says, “Psychiatric drugs are much more dangerous than you’ve ever been lead to believe by the doctors who are prescribing them.”

He believes that if people understood just how dangerous these drugs are, few patients would ever consent to take them. He also believes that few doctors who prescribe these drugs understand the risks and that if they did- they would stop prescribing them.

Of course, we would like to believe this would be the case- but we know well that many doctors who have been informed about the risks of these drugs continue to give them to patients and continue to enjoy valuable rewards from the pharmaceutical companies that they are associated with.

Dr. Breggin says that the reason so many people are misinformed about these drugs is the fact that the drug companies themselves are the primary source of information that doctors and medical institutions rely on. The doctors are listening to the salespeople, and the patients are listening to the doctors.

Large industries have a long history of trying to obfuscate information related to any risks associated with their products. The automotive industry, dietary supplement industry, and big tobacco readily come to mind. So, why would the pharmaceutical industry be any different?

You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to see that what we are dealing with here is a common problem that arises when an industry runs a successful PR campaign in the interest of hiding the faults of the products it produces and sells.

The big difference between big pharma and, say, the automotive industry is- one delivers a valuable product with a desirable function, while the other masks symptoms it claims to treat using poisonous substances.

Dr. Breggin has been a medical expert in dozens of lawsuits against major drug companies. He knows firsthand how desperately they will work to cover the truth. And he knows the harms that these drugs can cause. He was court appointed to serve as a medical expert in hundreds of lawsuits against the drug maker Eli Lily and Company. What he has seen in case after case is that Prozac- for example- can cause violence, suicide, mania, psychosis and extremely dangerous and erratic behavior.

Follow up studies on children who took stimulants like Vivance, show a shrinkage of the brain tissue, a reduction of both height and weight. These patients have higher incarceration rates and are more likely to be admitted to mental hospitals. These patients are being compared to people who were treated for the same disorders- but who were not given psychoactive stimulants. So, it is the drugs- and not the condition- that coincides with these terrible results. Not surprisingly, the rate of cocaine abuse is much greater in those who were given medical stimulants as children.

Prescription sleeping pills also have a strong connection to serious negative effects. Studies have shown these drugs may lengthen sleep- but they shorten the lifespans of those who use them.

Benzodiazepines like Zanex and Valium all come with a high incidence of severe addiction, brain shrinkage, and early onset of senile dementia. Coming off these drugs can be a nightmarish experience- more intense than heroin withdrawals- and more dangerous.

So-called antipsychotic drugs, which are really only chemical lobotomy drugs, are now being given to people for sleep disorders. These drugs are very damaging to the brain and have been linked to long-term memory loss, loss of functionality, and cause a whole host of degenerative neurological conditions.

People have struggled with mental and emotional instability for thousands of years. But not since medieval times have such destructive and provably debilitating interventions been employed to treat them.
