Milk Does NOT Do a Body Good

Once upon a time, raw milk was delivered straight to your door in clean glass bottles. It was filled with nourishing vitamins, minerals, and probiotics that offered powerful health benefits. Modern, store-bought milk isn’t the same milk your grandparents enjoyed. It’s filled with foreign chemicals that wreck havoc with your health and leave you vulnerable for the development of serious disease.

Milk – A Brief History

Modern milk pasteurization was invented by Louis Pasteur in 1863. Pasteurization was designed as a method killing harmful bacteria in beverages and food products. In 1891, Sheffield Farms Dairy in Bloomfield, New Jersey, was the first United States milk processing plant to install pasteurization equipment.

In 1908, Chicago became the first major American city to pass a law requiring commercial milk to be pasteurized. By 1924, the United States Public Health Service (USPHS), a branch of the Food and Drug Administration, developed the Standard Milk Ordinance, known today as the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO).

As of 2013, unpasteurized milk is illegal for sale or distribution in 18 states.

Dangerous Additives in Store-Bought Milk

For the past twenty years, the “Got Milk” advertising campaign has been using attractive celebrities with milk moustaches to sell you a product your body stopped being able to digest when you were a toddler. These advertisements claim that milk is filled with nourishing calcium and vitamin D your body needs to prevent osteoporosis. What they don’t tell you is these vitamins are synthetic and not able to be absorbed by your body. What they also keep from you is just how many dangerous ingredients are hidden in your favorite breakfast beverage.

Let’s take a look at these dangerous additives and what modern pasteurization may be doing to your health:

  • Pasteurization

Pasteurization is meant to kill bacteria that might be harmful to your body such as E. coli, listeria, and tuberculosis. Unfortunately, this process also destroys beneficial bacteria like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which boosts your immune system and regulates your digestion. Milk that has been pasteurized no longer offers this healing probiotic benefit.

  • Antibiotics

When you think of the farm where your milk comes from, you might picture healthy dairy cows grazing in a field. With industrialized farming techniques, this is not the case. Dairy cows are kept in dark, cramped quarters where they are over-milked and forced to stand in their own feces. In these conditions, cattle would sicken and die if not given a heavy dose of antibiotics.

These antibiotics end up in your milk and can cause serious health problems. Excessive antibiotic exposure has been shown to cause immune system malfunction, chronic candida syndrome, digestive disorders, and antibiotic resistance.

  • Genetically Modified Pesticides

Dairy cows were meant to consume grass, not grain. Factory farmed cattle eat a steady diet of genetically modified corn and soy. This grain feed contains pesticides built right into the seed. These pesticides have been shown to cause autoimmune disease, digestive disorders, infertility, and even cancer.

Factory farmed cattle also eat bones, feathers, hooves, hair, skin, blood, and same-species meat. They are so over-milked that they develop sores and infections from the machines that milk them, which causes gallons of puss to end up in the dairy products made from their milk.

Disgusting, huh?

  • Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH)

Speaking of genetically modified foods and Monsanto, Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) was introduced into factory dairy farms in 1993 to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for milk. Produced under the name Posilac®, Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH) is said to increase per-cow milk yield by 10 to 15 percent. Unfortunately, cows treated with these hormones often developed serious health problems that required more antibiotic injections.

  • Aspartame

Recently, milk manufacturers have actually considered adding dangerous, neurotoxic aspartame to their product to make it more appealing to children! Aspartame has been shown to cause severe and irreversible neurological and gastrointestinal damage.

More Health Problems Associated with Dairy Consumption

In addition to the possibility of developing a permanently malfunctioning immune system or cancer from the chemicals in conventionally-produced milk, dairy consumption comes with some other serious health risks.

These risks include:

  • Lactose Intolerance

Millions of people suffer from lactose intolerance; a lack of sufficient lactase enzyme to break down the sugar in milk. Symptoms of lactose intolerance include bloating, belching, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is estimated that 80% of American Indian, Asian, African American, and Hispanic Americans have lactose intolerance because they are not genetically predisposed to digest milk.

  • Dairy Allergy

A dairy allergy isn’t the same thing as lactose intolerance. Dairy allergies are caused by a malfunctioning immune system, whereas lactose intolerance is a result of a lack of enzyme. Symptoms of dairy allergy include wheezing, sneezing, sniffling, watery eyes, skin irritation, stomach pain, and diarrhea.

  • Casein Intolerance

Casein, a hard protein found in milk, is very difficult for the body to digest. In someone with an intolerance to this protein, mucous is continually being produced and accumulates in the intestinal walls. This causes food residue to stick to this mucous, blocking the uptake and absorption of nutrients.

The Calcium Conundrum

Bone-building calcium is a common nutrient associated with milk. Supposedly, if you drink enough, you’ll never have to worry about bone disease. Not true. Yes, milk has calcium but it doesn’t have enough magnesium or vitamin D to make it absorbable. Also, most of these so-called “nutrients” in conventional milk are synthetic, created in a laboratory and added after the pasteurization process. This means your body can’t recognize and absorb them.

Raw Milk – Pros and Cons

For the past few years, raw milk has been at the forefront of controversy in the natural health community. There are certain pros and cons to consuming raw milk. First of all, raw milk was really never meant to travel long distances. When it does, it increases the risk for the development of health problems associated with Campylobacter, listeria, and E. coli infection.

Microbiologists have stated that those who lived and worked on the same farm where they received their raw milk had a natural immunity to the bacteria in the milk. This is why they didn’t get sick.

Raw milk has been said to boost immunity, ease allergy symptoms, and treat a multitude of digestive disorders.

  • Avoid Soy Milk – It’s Not a Health Food

If, after reading this article, you’ve decided any type of dairy milk isn’t for you, don’t switch to soy milk. Soy milk is genetically modified and has been linked to a wide variety of serious health problems. Choose organic almond milk or coconut milk instead.

You don’t have to drink gallons of milk to get calcium and other necessary nutrients in your diet. Green, leafy vegetables are an excellent source of the calcium and magnesium your body needs. If you do choose dairy products, opt for organic. They’re much safer for your health.

**Recommended Research**

And all this time I thought I was doing my body good by drinking milk as much as I do! I thought, “Well at least I’m getting a bunch of nutrients and vitamins with this drink!” but sadly I was wrong.

It seems like every day I found out a food I thought was healthy for me turns out to be a dud. Our food just isn’t as nutritional as it was when our grandparents were alive.

Now-a-days we have to take vitamins and nutrients just to meet our daily serving requirements! But if you’re like me you are confused about which ones are the most essential, I don’t want to take 5 pills a day to get enough nutrition!

I’ve done pretty extensive research on the topic and found what I call the “missing ingredient” in modern food sources. It’s not actually a food though, it’s a nutrient and it’s just starting to receive recognition in the U.S.

Doctors and patients in Europe (especially Germany) have known about it for years. Some athletes know about it too, it has helped them recover from injuries faster and they’ve started to talk about how it’s helped them.

I can’t say enough about the healing qualities of this nutrient. But don’t take my word for it, read this letter to find out all about its medicinal abilities.

Enjoy!
