Kratom: The Wonder Drug the FDA Doesn’t Want You to Have

Kratom, known to science as mitragyna speciosa, is a potent plant product that people all over the world have been using for many years to alleviate pain and improve mood. It has a short history with the people of the United States but has gained rapid acceptance from a growing cross-section of the population who are looking for healthier and safer alternatives to mainstream medicine.

Kratom comes from Southeast Asia. It grows most readily and most abundantly in Indonesia and Thailand. The people of the region have used it for thousands of years to alleviate pain, reduce anxiety and stress, to treat depression. It has the coffee-like effect of imparting a feeling of energetic euphoria, which is mild but effective enough to be enjoyable.

Since the plant product was introduced to the United States just over five years ago, the FDA has been working overtime trying to ban and demonize this herb. They tell us it’s dangerous. But the evidence against their oppressive claims is never mentioned in their publications.

In 2016, the FDA announced their plan to ban the substance from the US entirely. People had been using it in tea for years. It had been alleviating pain, and imparting pleasure for nearly half a decade when the federal government said it was going to pull the rug out on the entire situation.

People who suffer from chronic pain say it helps them to rekindle their former active lifestyles. People suffering from depression and anxiety disorders say it has done miracles for them and for people they know.

So, what are the dangers the FDA is so anxious to protect us from? They say that Kratom is addictive. They say there is a dangerous lack of regulation. And they say it could have dangerous interactions with other drugs.

While the herb has been in open circulation for years now, there has not been one documented case of Kratom addiction. During the same period, pharmaceutical painkillers have gotten enormous amounts of people stuck on a debilitating and dangerous road to addiction. Many, many people have turned to heroin when they could no longer afford the legal painkillers to which they became powerfully hooked.

Their third claim is the funniest- and the evilest. They say Kratom may have harmful interactions with pharmaceutical drugs. They ignore the enormous harm the products manufactured by big pharma have wrought on the American people. But the real irony of the third claim is that many people have gotten off of pharmaceutical painkillers because of Kratom.

In other words, Kratom has taken a big bite out of the profits of the pharmaceutical companies and the medical and legal professionals who work with them to push their poison.

In an excerpt from an addiction treatment site, they warn of Kratom addiction. But they admit that Kratom overdoses are rare and can only cite one case of a Kratom overdose from 2015.

With just a handful of known overdose cases, one would ask the obvious question- if we’re going to ban it over a few hospitalizations- why not ban alcohol? We all know how well the ban on alcohol went. And the war on drugs has made the illegal sale of drugs a billion dollar underground industry.

Today, people who never broke the law in their lives are turning to heroin because of opioid addiction. Do they think banning Kratom will eliminate it from the black market?

Last year, the FDA again said they planned to ban Kratom. They keep trying and they keep getting stopped by public outcry.

Earlier this year, one irresponsible vendor in Las Vegas was told to recall their Kratom stock as it had been tainted with salmonella. The vendor did not comply and some people got sick. The company was fined and the FDA used this event to shamelessly conflate Kratom with salmonella.

No one has the right to forbid you by force from consuming anything you want to put in your body. But the bans that the FDA is trying to ram through are meant to do more than just stop you from gaining access to a powerful medicine. They are also designed to leave people in pain with no option other than to take expensive and addictive chemical concoctions.

They want you to take the most dangerous drugs in the world, and they want you to pay through the nose for them.
