Is Your Toothpaste Aging You?

When you get to a certain age, you notice fine lines, gray hairs, and some changes in the elasticity and firmness of your skin. There could be a number of reasons for this.

For example, excessive sun exposure, poor diet, high stress levels, genetics, and the toothpaste you’re using.

Wait. What was that last one?

Yes. The toothpaste you use every day could be causing you to age prematurely, not only on the outside, but on the inside, as well—and the rest of the health risks are far more staggering than you can believe!

The Toothpaste Ingredient that’s Sucking Years from Your Life

Fluoride.

This “magic” substance that’s supposed to prevent cavities and save your teeth is actually doing serious damage to your mind and body every time you use it. Sodium fluoride, the kind found in toothpaste, mouthwash, and your water supply, is a synthetic waste byproduct made from the fertilizer, aluminum, and nuclear industries!

As if that wasn’t bad enough, fluoride, which is already laden with heavy metals like aluminum, lead, and cadmium, has the ability to combine with other toxic materials, which increases its potency and, therefore, its ability to permanently damage your health from head to toe!

The Alarming Way Fluoride Ages You from the Inside Out

In 2004, a research study published in the Journal of Tissue Research revealed that fluoride is capable of accelerating the aging process by inhibiting crucial enzymes, breaking down collagen, disrupting and impairing your immune system, and even damaging your DNA.

From the study:

“Fluoride as low as 1mg/l causes breakdown of collagen, the most abundant of the body protein at 30%. It leads to irregular formation of collagen, which serves as a major structural component of skin, ligaments, tendons, muscles, cartilage, bone and teeth.”

Can you imagine that? Not only can regular use of fluoride toothpaste and other products make you look much older than you are, it can also damage your skin, cartilage, and bones.

Those strange aches and pains you’re having in your hands and knees? Fluoride could be the hidden culprit, and no doctor would ever tell you!

Even More Disturbing Health Risks of Fluoride

  1. Harmful to your heart, bones, brain, and tooth enamel!

A study published in the Journal of Public Health revealed that “Blood levels during lifelong consumption can harm heart, bone, brain, and even developing teeth enamel.”

Wait a minute. Tooth enamel? Isn’t that what we’re told fluoride is supposed to protect?

It gets worse.

  1. Painfully hardens cartilage

Stiff, aching joints can be a simple sign of aging—when you’re in your 70s. Unless you have an autoimmune disease, you shouldn’t feel the aches and pains you do now. Just because it’s typical to feel bent, stooped, and exhausted as early as your late 20s and early 30s, it’s anything but normal!

From a study:

“This study shows that calcified cartilage is an important site of fluoride deposition, and suggests that the accumulation of fluoride is related to the calcification process.”

Joint calcification is a common cause of painful joint inflammation. Symptoms of joint calcification include rigidity and swelling in the joints, difficulty with bending and locomotion, and increased pain after prolonged periods of inactivity.

For example, in the case of knee joint calcification, movements such as walking, squatting, and climbing stairs may cause feelings of pain and weakness in the joint, with the ache coming from deep inside.

You may even notice your knee “locking up” or hear a crackling sound that accompanies the pain.

  1. Thyroid problems

A Chinese study revealed that fluoride used under experimental conditions decreased the viability of thyroid cells and induced sudden thyroid cell death.

Another study, this one published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, found that, in England, the West Midlands (a wholly fluoridated area) are nearly two times as likely to report the prevalence of hypothyroidism in comparison to Greater Manchester, which is a non-fluoridated area.

The insidious damage caused by fluoride has been well documented as far back as the 1960s, with Merck releasing a description of the original use of fluoride (as an insecticide), and the myriad ways it can destroy your health.

From the document:

“MED USE: For prophylaxis of dental caries. Formerly in hyperthyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, epilepsy. Dose: For caries prophylaxis, 0.7 to 1 ppm of drinking water; topically, 2% soln applied directly to teeth. Human Toxicity: Severe symptoms from ingestion of 0.25 to 0.45 g. Death from 4 g. Sublethal: nausea and vomiting, abdominal distress, diarrhea, stupor, weakness. Lethal: muscular weakness, tremors, convulsions, collapse, dyspnea, respiratory and cardiac failure, death. Chronic: mottling of tooth enamel, osteosclerosis.”

Why would something so potentially lethal be allowed in the toothpaste we use every day, not to mention our water supply?

  1. Neurological, developmental problems

A study published in Environmental Health Perspectives revealed that “children in high-fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ scores than those who lived in low-fluoride areas.”

Not only are children at risk for learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and behavioral abnormalities when exposed to fluoride, our senior population is under serious neurological threat.

According to an article published in Psychology Today, there may be a strong link between fluoridation and Alzheimer’s disease, not necessarily due to the fluoride itself, but because it greatly enhances the uptake of aluminum, a known heavy metal nerve toxin.

A quote from the article:

“Subsequently numerous international studies have found more Alzheimer’s disease in areas with high aluminum levels in drinking water.”

Wait. What About Cavities?

This is a question I often run up against whenever I explain the dangers of fluoride. For decades, we’ve been practically brainwashed into believing that fluoride equals no cavities and healthy teeth!

Well, even this turns out to be a complete falsehood. Fluoride ravages your insides without having any positive effect on your dental health whatsoever.

In June of 1988, a nationwide survey that cost upward of nearly four million dollars to conduct, was published by the National Institute of Dental Research.

After examining 39,207 United States school children aged 5 to 17 from 84 different geographical areas, it was discovered that not only was there no relation between tooth decay rates and amounts of fluoridation, but the lowest tooth decay rate reported in the survey came from a non-fluoridated area!

Reduce Your Risk of Premature Aging and Other Nasty Side Effects

  • Filter Your Drinking Water

Depending on where your water comes from, your most substantial exposure to fluoride may be your faucet. Unless you have well water or live close to a natural spring, you should filter your drinking water.

The only three types of filters that can remove fluoride are activated alumina, reverse osmosis filters, and deionizers (which use ion-exchange resins).

  • Find a Fluoride-Free Toothpaste

Fluoride-free toothpaste is easy to find. You can pick it up at your local health food store, online, or even in your favorite supermarket. Be sure to read the label carefully and choose organic whenever possible.

  • Skip the Fluoride Gel Treatments

Some dental practices will offer a fluoride gel procedure that requires you to clamp down on a tray full of extremely concentrated fluoride gel (12,300 ppm, to be precise) for a period of four minutes.

Because of the amount of saliva this highly acidic gel causes your mouth to produce, it’s nearly impossible to get through this procedure without swallowing the gel.

Furthermore, you don’t need it. It’s completely unnecessary and could cause harmful side effects.

  • Eat Fewer Highly-Processed Foods

In places where water is fluoridated, all beverages and food made in that area contain fluoride, as well. As a general rule, the more processing a food goes through before it ends up on your plate, the more fluoride it contains.

Furthermore, processed beverages such as reconstituted fruit juices, sports drinks, and soda contribute the most to your fluoride intake, so, it is best to considerably reduce your consumption.

Fresh foods, such as milk, grains, eggs, fruits, and vegetables contain a low amount of fluoride and are the basis of a healthy diet.

Don’t spend your hard-earned money on fancy anti-aging creams and procedures. Instead, ditch the fluoride. You’ll not only be getting rid of a major source of the problem, you’ll have the chance to lead a much longer and healthier life!
