As COVID-19 continues to ravage the nation, authorities like Dr. Anthony Fauci are taking to mainstream news outlets to promote their undemocratic, authoritarian wet dreams.
In a recent interview with BBC, Dr. Fauci blatantly told the public that state rights enshrined in the Constitution were an obstacle to fighting the novel coronavirus as these rights enabled state governors, rather than the Deep State, to determine what sort of restrictions and lockdowns were (and were not) imposed throughout the nation.
“What we’ve had was a considerable disparity, with states doing things differently in a nonconsistent way,” he said. “There have been a lot of factors that have led to the fact that, unfortunately for us, the United States has been the hardest-hit country in the world, but I believe that disparity among how states do things has been a major weakness in our response.”
Put simply, some states locked down their entire economies and even went as far as shutting down certain aisles at Wal-Mart to prevent “non-essential shopping,” while other states took precautions but still allowed people to engage in many regular activities.
Despite taking almost opposite responses to the pandemic, Republican-run Florida continues to trail Democrat-held California in terms of daily COVID cases and deaths. New York, famous for imposing the harshest lockdowns in America, continues to see surges.
So, in a way Dr. Fauci is right — there is a discrepancy in how the states responded. What he’s missing is what we should be learning from all of this. Lockdowns are not the end-all-be-all solution to containing a viral outbreak. The answer to a disease is medicine — and vaccinations have begun.
Dr. Fauci’s remarks border on laughable. Other nations with harsh lockdowns like the United Kingdom were also hard-hit by the novel coronavirus — while countries with less concentrated population centers weathered the storm more easily. Scandinavian countries, for example, were far more lenient with their response, but nonetheless experienced less severe spikes in COVID deaths.
President Donald Trump has somewhat resisted Fauci’s counsel, noting that he doesn’t have the legal authority to impose orders such as national mask mandates. Dr. Fauci’s remarks seem to be implying that perhaps the President should have assumed dictatorial powers.
The comments are really at swipe at the U.S. Constitution itself. Sadly, there are many that would support a move to ignore the foundation for all U.S. laws entirely.
Federalism is a Constitutional right that allows each state governor to make decisions based on local needs and conditions. It’s not perfect but it’s far better than giving the President dictatorial powers. Sadly, liberals fail to appreciate the fact that the rights that enable conservative states to operate as they please also enable liberal state governors to make dictions that allow liberals to live as they please. Stripping rights from state governors would not only fail to prevent the spread of disease but also endanger the basic rights of people of all ages, walks of life, and political affiliations.

Fauci’s wrong, the Constitution didn’t spread the virus, its lackey, the Statue of Liberty did that. Every night, it climbed off its base to throw viruses from their place in its torch all over New York City, while its unknowing citizens slept. And the Mayor, DeBlasio, was in cahoots with them, locking down the city so none could escape. DeBlasio managed to hush up reports of giant footprints in Central Park, so no one was the wiser. It was more horrible than the virus on its own could have been.
